Kankakee Valley Kougars (Wheatfield, IN) boosters left the game thrilled Saturday as they saw their volleyball team overcome the visiting Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Kougars (4-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Kouts (Kouts, IN). The Mustangs & Fillies come into the non-league challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Kouts was beaten by South Newton (Kentland, IN), 3-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Pirates meet the Hanover Central Wildcats (Cedar Lake, IN) in a non-league test, on Saturday, August 23. Merrillville will attempt to advance on its 4-6 season record. The Wildcats go into the test with a 2-0 record after their 3-0 non-league win over North Newton (Morocco, IN).
