In Friday's league game, the Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) football team triumphed over the visiting La Porte Slicers (La Porte, IN), by a score of 38-0.

In their next game, the Pirates face the Valparaiso Vikings (Valparaiso, IN) in a Duneland game, on Friday, October 3. Merrillville will attempt to improve on its 4-2 season record. The Vikings enter the game with a 1-5 record after their 35-14 league loss to Crown Point (Crown Point, IN).
