St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers (St. Johnsbury, VT) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Essex Hornets (Essex Junction, VT), 69-59 in a league bout.

With the win, St. Johnsbury Academy upgrades its record to 15-4 on the season. The Hilltoppers host Champlain Valley Union (Hinesburg, VT) to play the Redhawks in a Metro bout on Friday, February 16. The Redhawks go into the bout with a record of 16-3. Champlain Valley Union won 59-47 in their recent league bout against South Burlington (South Burlington, VT)

Next up, the Hornets play the Bellows Free Academy Bobwhites/Comets (St. Albans, VT) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 16. Essex will attempt to upgrade on its 4-16 season record. The Bobwhites/Comets go into the bout with a 10-10 record after their 54-42 non-league win over Mt. Mansfield (Jericho, VT).
