Massachusetts High School Volleyball - Holyoke routed by Taconic
October 4, 2023: Holyoke, MA 01040 The Holyoke Purple Knights volleyball team (Holyoke, MA), went down 3-0 in Wednesday's league challenge with the visiting Taconic Thunder (Pittsfield, MA)
The Thunder (8-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Pittsfield (Pittsfield, MA). The Generals enter the non-league challenge with a 4-8 record. In their last challenge, Pittsfield went down by Mount Greylock Regional (Williamstown, MA), 3-0, in a league challenge.
Next, the Purple Knights encounter the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers (Springfield, MA) in a Pioneer Valley - Central challenge, on Tuesday, October 17. Holyoke will attempt to move on its 3-3 season record.
Match Summary
Taconic has gone on an impressive 9 set winning streak since losing to Putnam 9/27. We continue to improve and build off of what we learn about ourselves in every match. Tonight we got off to a great start with Camille Kenney's serving as she quickly put us up 3-0 and set Holyoke on their heals with a few aces. Camille had her best night of the season finishing with 2 blocks, 3 aces and 2 kills.
We went 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 in a match where the first 2 sets felt like comfortable wins and in the 3rd we were able to come from being down by 8 or 9 to regain control and end the night with a sweep.
Jadyn Galliher came up big tonight with her season high 10 kills, while Nevaeh Williams added 6 and Janayah Jones had 4. Natalia Dos Santos continues read the opponent's offense and does an amazing job of reacting and covering the court! She had 26 digs tonight which is almost 9 per set!
