Central Decatur Cardinals (Leon, IA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Southwest Valley (Corning, IA), 53-51 in a league bout.

With the win, Central Decatur upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Cardinals host Davis County (Bloomfield, IA) to clash with the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 1-7. Davis County lost 80-70 in their recent league bout against Chariton (Chariton, IA)

Next up, the clash with the Mount Ayr Raiders (Mount Ayr, IA) in a Pride of Iowa bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Southwest Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Raiders go into the bout with a 8-3 record after their 56-35 league win over Martensdale-St. Mary's (Martensdale, IA).
