In Thursday's league challenge, the host Zuni Thunderbirds volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Wingate Bears.

The Thunderbirds (6-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM). The Eagles come into the 3A District 1 challenge with a 5-16 record. In their last battle, Navajo Prep was edged by Thoreau (Thoreau, NM), 3-0, in a league battle.

The Bears now own a 3-13 record. They put it on the line next when they host Newcomb for a 3A District 1 battle on Saturday, October 26. Wingate will encounter a Skyhawks squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to Thoreau (Thoreau, NM). The Skyhawks record now stands at 3-15.
