When it came time for photographer
Kirk Allen's photo shoot with the top ranked football team in Virginia, the players made a friendly competition out of it.
Allen, who is based in Virginia Beach and is a member of the
MaxPreps Photographers' Network, handled the Preseason Top 25 shoot for
Ocean Lakes. It was done in May and involved eight top players from the team along with head coach Chris Scott.
"The players were really excited and were competing between themselves to give the best pose of the day," Allen said. "It shows why they have a great level of success as they compete in everything they do."
Allen staged the shoot on campus, using two locations to take photos -- the team's locker room and the football stadium.
"The coaching staff was amazing in making sure I had everything I needed to make the locker room look like an actively used space by filling lockers with practice equipment," Allen said. "I chose to wait until later in the afternoon to take photos of the players on the football field because I wanted the images to have a more dramatic look. The dark sky in combination with the field lights and the strobe lights created a very interesting result."
