The Covington Owls basketball team scored 66 points and held the visiting Meridian Yellowjackets to 41 in the Owls league triumph on Tuesday.

The Owls now sport a 12-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Iredell for a 1A Region III District 20 contest on Friday, January 5. Covington will battle a Dragons team coming off a 50-42 league loss to Walnut Springs (Walnut Springs, TX). The Dragons record now stands at 5-10.

The Yellowjackets (10-6) will now prepare for their contest against Kopperl (Kopperl, TX). The Eagles enter the 1A Region III District 20 contest with a 6-7 record. In their last contest, Kopperl was routed by Hico (Hico, TX), 51-42, in a non-league contest.
