The Covington Owls basketball team scored 63 points and held the host Meridian Yellowjackets to 48 in the Owls league triumph on Friday.

The Owls now sport a 17-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Iredell for a 1A Region III District 20 contest on Tuesday, January 30.

The Yellowjackets (11-10) will now prepare for their contest against Kopperl (Kopperl, TX). The Eagles enter the 1A Region III District 20 contest with a 6-13 record. In their last contest, Kopperl was defeated by Covington (Covington, TX), 50-39, in a league contest.
