Texas High School Basketball - McAllen succumbs to Vela

January 31, 2023: McAllen, TX 78501

The Vela Sabercats topped the host McAllen Bulldogs basketball team by a final score of 53-42 in Tuesday's league game.

In their next game, the Sabercats face the Pioneer Diamondbacks (Mission, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 31 game, on Friday, February 3. Vela will attempt to move on its 21-12 season record. The Diamondbacks enter the game with a 20-13 record after their 74-32 league win over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (Pharr, TX).

With the defeat, McAllen moves to 12-17 on the year. The Bulldogs travel to Sharyland (Mission, TX) to face the Rattlers in a 5A Region IV District 31 game on Friday, February 3. The Rattlers enter the game with a record of 9-17. Sharyland won 62-54 in their recent league game against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North (Pharr, TX)
