North Carolina High School Basketball - Ashley succumbs to New Hanover

January 31, 2025: Wilmington, NC 28412

In Friday's league test, the New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) basketball squad defeated the host Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC), by a final score of 48-39.

Next, the Wildcats clash with the North Brunswick Scorpions (Leland, NC) in a 3A/4A Mideastern test, on Tuesday, February 4. New Hanover will attempt to upgrade on its 13-5 season record. The Scorpions come into the test with a 3-12 record after their 44-41 league loss to South Brunswick (Southport, NC).

The Screaming Eagle (7-12) will now prepare for their test against West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC). The Trojans come into the 3A/4A Mideastern test with a 8-11 record. In their last test, West Brunswick went down by Topsail (Hampstead, NC), 55-43, in a league test.
