Match Summary

West's amazing tourney run came to an end in the finals at Hunt tonight. Four straight 5-set matches took a real toll on the energy level of the Wildcats; still, they fought gamely, winning the 3rd set & barely losing the 4th. The beautiful thing about this run was that it occurred without the play of its star Middle Hitter, Theresa Webb, which was no small loss to the Wildcat team. Few realize it, but Webb is 2nd all-time in Kills for West Johnston High & likely in the top 5 all-time in Blocks. With Webb in the lineup, there's no doubt that the outcome of the final 2 regular season matches would have been different. Just one win from either of those 2 matches would have secured a Conference Championship & a much easier path to the tourney finals & a realized dream to end the dry spell that is up to 8 years now. What terrific courage from the girls. They faced difficult circumstances & went and played their hearts out. West's admin team should be overjoyed. Jeff Greene,
