Match Summary
The West Johnston girls played a tenacious Wilson Hunt team tonight, prevailing in a hard fought match 3 - 1. This match produced the Wildcat girls' biggest comebacks thus far in the season. After playing a consistent and dominating 1st set (winning 25 - 15), the Lady Wildcats dropped the 2nd set 17 - 25. The 3rd set was looking pretty bleak at 11 - 18 when the West girls went on a tear to get back into the set. At 21 -24, and facing 3 set points, Senior Emma Schwarting displayed some deft serving to help West win 5 consecutive points to put away a beleaguered Hunt team. The 4th set required an even greater comeback, as the Lady Wildcats founds themselves down 12 - 20; yet, the West team was not going to be denied tonight, as it roared back once again, finishing off the match with a 14 - 4 run to put away the Lady Warriors. The Lady Wildcats will need more of this same mettle as they play some big games on the road next week.
