Mexia Black Cats (Mexia, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX), 65-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mexia upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Black Cats travel to University (Waco, TX) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Thursday, November 30. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 3-1. University won 65-43 in their recent non-league bout against Connally (Waco, TX)

Next up, the Pirates play the Ridge Point Panthers (Missouri City, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 1. La Vega will attempt to upgrade on its 3-1 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 9-3 record after their 86-59 non-league win over Trinity Leadership (Cedar Hill, TX).
