In Friday's non-league test, the Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC) basketball squad got by the host South Mecklenburg Sabres (Charlotte, NC), by a score of 40-35.

Next, the Patriots clash with the Ardrey Kell Knights (Charlotte, NC) in a non-league test, on Saturday, December 7. Independence will attempt to improve on its 5-0 season record. The Knights come into the test with a 3-0 record after their 42-39 non-league win over Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC).
