Veterans Memorial Chargers (Brownsville, TX) boosters left the game satisfied Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds (Brownsville, TX), 46-43 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Veterans Memorial upgrades its record to 24-4 on the year. The Chargers host Harlingen (Harlingen, TX) to face the Cardinals in a 6A Region IV District 32 match on Friday, January 3. The Cardinals enter the match with a record of 19-7.

The Bloodhounds now sport a 8-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to St. Augustine for a TAPPS 5A District 3 match on Saturday, January 4. St. Joseph Academy will face a Knights squad coming off a 28-25 non-league loss to Union City (Union City, PA). The Knights record now stands at 2-10.
