The Newtown Nighthawks basketball team scored 65 points and held the visiting Pomperaug Panthers to 55 in the Nighthawks league triumph on Wednesday.

The Nighthawks now sport a 12-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Brookfield for a Southwest contest on Friday, February 16. Newtown will meet a Bobcats team coming off a 59-40 league win over Joel Barlow (Redding, CT). The Bobcats record now stands at 12-7.

The Panthers (10-8) will now prepare for their contest against Bunnell (Stratford, CT). The Bulldogs enter the Southwest contest with a 14-4 record. In their last contest, Bunnell ran past Bethel (Bethel, CT), 80-62, in a league contest.
