March 25, 2024: Boone, NC 28607 Spectators at Monday's league battle between the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) and the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), saw Watauga's baseball squad knock off Alexander Central by a count of 5-2.
Coming up next, the Pioneers play the Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC) in a Northwestern 3A/4A battle, on Wednesday, March 27. Watauga will attempt to move on its 6-2 season record. The Panthers enter the battle with a 6-4 record after their 5-4 league win over Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC).
The Cougars now possess a 4-6 record. They take the field next when they host South Caldwell for a Northwestern 3A/4A battle on Wednesday, March 27. Alexander Central will play a Spartans squad coming off a 18-0 non-league win over West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC). The Spartans record now stands at 7-2.
