April 25, 2025: Lake Balboa, CA 91406 Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars (Lake Balboa, CA) boosters left the game satisfied Friday as they saw their volleyball squad achieve victory over the visiting Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology Griffins (Sun Valley, CA), 3-0 in a league test.
With the win, Lake Balboa College Prep improves its record to 2-15 on the season. The Cougars travel to Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA) to face the Romans in a non-league test on Monday, April 28. The Romans go into the test with a record of 11-12. Los Angeles won 3-1 in their recent league test against Manual Arts (Los Angeles, CA)
The Griffins now own a 3-10 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Valor Academy for a Central Valley test on Wednesday, April 30.
Match Summary
Trading points but down 2-3 in set 1, Lake Balboa opened up a 7-3 lead over AMIT. It quickly ballooned to 12-4 Cougs. The Lake show continued to hum along 13-7 to the finish line winning with alacrity. Set 2 found the teams trading blows with the Griffins up 16-15 before the minions of Freddy Cougar tied it at 16 then staked out an 18-16 lead. The teal & black opened it up to 21-17 but Alliance still had some innovative volleyball to play pushing the score to a tight 22-23 LBCP. The Cougars took the last 2 points for the win. In set 3 Alliance took a quick 4-2 lead only to have Cougar Libero Jarrel Quinones' tough serving make it 8-4 cats. Again the Griffins closed & doggedly hung on at 10-11. The Cougars again dragged AMIT into the deep end of the lake making it 15-10. The feathers flew as AMIT kept coming on down by only 1 point 19-20. 22-21 Lake. 23-22 Cougars at crunch time. With the match on the line Lake Balboa did not blink, again driving home the last 2 points for the win.
