In Wednesday's non-league game, the host Alexander Central Cougars volleyball squad scored a 3-1 win over the Newton-Conover Red Devils.

Next up, the Cougars face the University Christian Barracudas (Hickory, NC) in a non-league game, on Thursday, August 21. Alexander Central will attempt to advance on its 4-0 season record. The Barracudas go into the game with a 2-1 record after their 3-0 league win over Statesville Christian (Statesville, NC).

With the loss, Newton-Conover drops to 0-4 on the campaign. The Red devils travel to Bandys (Catawba, NC) to play the Trojans in a Western Foothills 4A/5A outing on Thursday, August 21. The Trojans come into the outing with a record of 2-1. Bandys won 3-0 in their recent league game against Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC)
