September 18, 2025: New Kent, VA 23124 In Thursday's league match, the New Kent Trojans (New Kent, VA) volleyball squad prevailed the visiting Warhill Lions (Williamsburg, VA), by a count of 3-1.
Next up, the Trojans battle the Grafton Clippers (Yorktown, VA) in a Bay Rivers match, on Tuesday, September 23. New Kent will attempt to move on its 8-0 season record. The Clippers enter the match with a 8-0 record after their 3-0 league win over Bruton (Williamsburg, VA).
The Lions (4-3) will now prepare for their match against Poquoson (Poquoson, VA). The Islanders enter the Bay Rivers match with a 5-2 record. In their last bout, Poquoson defeated Gloucester (Gloucester, VA), 3-0, in a league bout.

The Lady Trojans extended their winning record by one more match, defeating the Lions of Warhill 3-1 with scores of 17-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17. In 38 years of coaching high school volleyball, I don't remember a match where all the sets had the same score! New Kent hit -.093 in the first set, committing 12 hitting errors in the process. But the Lady Trojans regained their composure and their enthusiasm in set two, hitting .266 and continued to improve throughout the match, hitting .350 in set three and .440 in set four. For the match, they recorded an overall efficiency of .215 and .347 for the last three sets. Carly Sachs led the team in kills with 12, followed by Leah Rounds with 7, Chloe Lightner with 6, Ava Nieto & Reagan Hailey-Robinson with 5, and Ryan Griffith with 4. Desi Stowe led the setters with 17 assists and added 3 aces, while Brielle Perry contributed 14 assists, 4 aces, and led the team in digs with 7. Lightner, Sachs, and Hailey-Robinson had 3 blocks each.
