The Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA) basketball knocked off the visiting George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA), 65-53 in Friday's league test.

The Eagles (13-3) will now prepare for their test against Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Blue Devils go into the Mountain Empire test with a 4-11 record. In their last test, Grayson County went down by Northwood (Saltville, VA), 53-44, in a non-league test.

The Maroons now own a 12-2 record. They play next when they travel to Galax for a Mountain Empire test on Tuesday, January 24. George Wythe will encounter a Maroon Tide squad coming off a 65-54 league loss to Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA). The Maroon Tide record now stands at 1-13.
