NFL Draft: State-by-state look at high schools of first round picks over last 10 years

By Zack Poff Apr 24, 2024, 11:00am

Florida has produced 50 first-round selections since 2014.

There have been 318 first-round selections in the NFL Draft since 2014 and 50 have come from the state of Florida. High school football's "Big Four" states — California, Florida, Georgia and Texas — have combined for 151 selections.

Some notable selections from Florida include Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, Amari Cooper, Lamar Jackson, Khalil Mack, Anthony Richardson and Patrick Surtain II.

Texas checks in at second on the list with 37 first-round picks. Mike Evans, Myles Garrett, CeeDee Lamb, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Jaylen Waddle and Garrett Wilson headline the players from the Lone Star State.

Georgia owns the No. 3 spot with 34 players selected. Some notable selections include Will Anderson, Bradley Chubb, Justin Fields, Jahmyr Gibbs, Kyle Hamilton, Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson.

Josh Allen, Jared Goff, Najee Harris, Jordan Love, C.J. Stroud, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Bryce Young headline the 30 selections from California.

Alabama (14), Louisiana (13), North Carolina (12), Ohio (11), New Jersey (10) and Pennsylvania (10) were the only other states that have had at least 10 selections over the last decade.

In total, 43 different states along with the District of Columbia have had at least one player selected in the first round.

Alaska, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont were the only states that have not had a selection in the opening round since 2014.
