The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Piedmont Panthers (Monroe, NC) and the host Anson Bearcats (Wadesboro, NC), observed Piedmont's basketball team edge Anson by a score of 69-67.

The Panthers (9-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Parkwood (Monroe, NC). The Wolf Pack come into the 2A/3A Rocky River challenge with a 7-15 record. In their last challenge, Parkwood was nudged by Monroe (Monroe, NC), 60-49, in a league battle.

The Bearcats now own a 13-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to West Stanly for a 2A/3A Rocky River battle on Friday, February 7. Anson will meet a Colts squad coming off a 62-47 league loss to Forest Hills (Marshville, NC). The Colts record now stands at 9-13.
