The Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets (Edcouch, TX) basketball edged the host Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX), 23-20 in Friday's league bout.

The Yellowjackets now possess a 10-12 record. They play next when they host Harlingen South for a 5A Region IV District 32 bout on Monday, January 20. Edcouch-Elsa will play a Hawks team coming off a 36-16 league win over Mercedes (Mercedes, TX). The Hawks record now stands at 23-5.
