The Weslaco East Wildcats got by the host Mercedes Tigers basketball squad by a final score of 41-36 in Friday's league outing.

Next, the Wildcats clash with the Harlingen South Hawks (Harlingen, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 32 outing, on Tuesday, January 14. Weslaco East will attempt to upgrade on its 6-17 season record. The Hawks come into the outing with a 21-5 record after their 55-28 league win over Pace (Brownsville, TX).
