The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Carson Cougars (China Grove, NC) and the host Central Cabarrus Vikings (Concord, NC), observed Carson's basketball team overwhelm Central Cabarrus by a score of 78-52.

The Cougars (12-6) will now prepare for their challenge against West Rowan (Mt. Ulla, NC). The Falcons come into the 3A South Piedmont challenge with a 5-9 record. In their last challenge, West Rowan trounced Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC), 65-59, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Vikings encounter the East Rowan Mustangs (Salisbury, NC) in a 3A South Piedmont challenge, on Friday, January 24. Central Cabarrus will attempt to improve on its 8-9 season record. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a 1-15 record after their 62-28 league loss to Concord (Concord, NC).
