Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Meridian Yellowjackets (Meridian, TX) and the host Covington Owls (Covington, TX), saw Meridian's basketball squad overcome Covington by a tally of 52-34.

With the victory, Meridian improves its record to 17-7 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets host Kopperl (Kopperl, TX) to confront the Eagles in a 1A Region III District 20 challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 3-17. Kopperl lost 55-27 in their recent league challenge against Covington (Covington, TX)

Next up, the Owls confront the Iredell Dragons (Iredell, TX) in a 1A Region III District 20 challenge, on Thursday, February 2. Covington will attempt to improve on its 18-7 season record.
