The Monroe Redhawks basketball team scored 49 points and held the visiting Anson Bearcats to 46 in the Redhawks league triumph on Tuesday.

The Redhawks now sport a 2-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Porter Ridge for a non-league contest on Wednesday, January 4. Monroe will meet a Pirates team coming off a 83-65 league win over Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 7-7.

The Bearcats (6-6) will now prepare for their contest against Central Academy (Monroe, NC). The Cougars enter the 2A/3A Conference 44 contest with a 7-7 record. In their last contest, Central Academy was nudged by Forest Hills (Marshville, NC), 57-34, in a league contest.
