The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Round Valley Elks (Eagar, AZ) and the host Valley Pirates (Sanders, AZ), observed Round Valley's basketball team edge Valley by a score of 55-48.

The Elks (18-10) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Johns (St. Johns, AZ). The Redskins come into the 2A North challenge with a 26-4 record. In their last challenge, St. Johns edged Greyhills Academy (Tuba City, AZ), 58-11, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates encounter the Many Farms Lobos (Many Farms, AZ) in a 2A North challenge, on Saturday, February 8. Valley will attempt to improve on its 14-12 season record. The Lobos come into the challenge with a 18-9 record after their 41-36 league win over Hopi (Keams Canyon, AZ).
