Pennsylvania High School Soccer - Delone Catholic held off by Hanover
September 15, 2022: Hanover, PA 17331 The Hanover Nighthawks held off the visiting Delone Catholic Squires soccer squad by a margin of 2-1 in Thursday's league match.
The Nighthawks now sport a 3-4 record. They play next when they host Fairfield for a York-Adams 4 match on Saturday, September 17. Hanover will encounter a Knights squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to Biglerville (Biglerville, PA). The Knights record now stands at 0-5.

Game Summary
The Squires fell to Hanover in this 1-2 loss decided again on a PK for the third game in a row. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie. Squires were missing starters Aidan Groves #53 (out) and Liam Russell #1 (goalie). However, Russell was able to play in the 2nd half after he received clearance for an injury to play. The PK was the first goal of the game. The Squires tied the game 1-1 with an assist by Michael Carter #10 to Aaron Ocampo #19 who put it in the net. The Squires made two critical mistakes that led to the second goal for the Nighthawks - 1) Russell bobbled a catch he didn't need to make near the line that set up a corner kick. 2) the Squires didn't cover Giovanni Buckalew #10 on the CK and he headed it into the goal. Although we had 5 shots on goal, we couldn't convert and the game ended 2-1.
