Game Summary
Squires started a full healthy roster. Great victory for the Squires tonight shutting out Fairfield HS 2-0. This was their first league game of the season. In the first half, defensive player JP Groves #4 boots the ball down the field to Angello Salazar #2 who pops it in and as the goalie tried to save it, crossed the line making it a goal. Later in the first half, defensive player AJ Neiderer #24 popped the ball over to Aaron Ocampo #19 who put it in the back of the net for goal two. Coach Austin Groves decided to move center mid Aidan Groves #53 to center back to protect the Squires and it was a working plan along with Liam Russell #1 (goalkeeper) with 3 saves. The Knights never scored despite a few close calls including a shot that hit the post. This was definitely a team effort. Every player contributed to protect or move the ball for scoring opportunities. The Squires are now 2-0-1 for the season so far hosting Bermudian Springs next on Thursday.
