Pennsylvania High School Soccer - Fairfield nudges Delone Catholic
September 27, 2022: Fairfield, PA 17320 The Fairfield Knights soccer team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Delone Catholic Squires to 2 in the Knights league victory on Tuesday.
Next, the Knights face the Littlestown Thunderbolts (Littlestown, PA) in a York-Adams 4 contest, on Thursday, September 29. Fairfield will attempt to better on its 1-7 season record. The Thunderbolts enter the contest with a 5-4 record after their 4-1 league loss to Biglerville (Biglerville, PA).
The Squires now have a 3-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bermudian Springs for a York-Adams 4 contest on Thursday, September 29. Delone Catholic will face a Eagles team coming off a 2-0 league loss to York Catholic (York, PA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-6.
Game Summary
The Squires were away against the Knights Tuesday evening after playing a varsity and JV game the night before. All starters were present today and healthy. The Squires dominated the game and had possession and good passing but made a few critical mistakes that gave the Knights the edge. In the first half, Aidan Groves #53 has a direct kick towards the goal and Michael Carter #10 heads it in for the first score. Fairfield scores off a penalty. Tied at half but 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Angello Salazar #2 passes the ball in front of the goal to Nolan Kruse #9 who puts it in to take the lead 2-1. Later though Fairfield heads in a goal to tie it up til the end of regulation. Only a few minutes into the first OT, Fairfield scores to break the tie and win 3-2.
