State-by-state look at high schools of NFL Draft first-round picks over last 10 years

By Zack Poff Apr 23, 2025, 9:30am

Florida has had the most first round selections over the last decade.

There have been 318 first round picks in the NFL Draft since 2015 and over 45 percent of them have come from the four big states — California, Florida, Georgia and Texas. The Sunshine State leads the way with 48 selections and have had six in each of the last two drafts.

Texas checks in with the second-most selections with 35 followed by Georgia with 32 and California with 30.

Louisiana (13), Alabama (12), North Carolina (12), Ohio (11), Pennsylvania (11) and New Jersey (10) were the only other states that have had at least 10 selections since 2015.

In total, 43 states along with the District of Columbia have had at least one player selected in the first round.

Alaska, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont were the only states that have not had a first round selection over the last decade.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) has had the most first round selections with six followed by St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) with five and Northwestern (Miami) with four. American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) and Hillgrove (Powder Springs, Ga.) tied for the fourth most with three each.
