In Friday's league outing, the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) basketball squad edged the visiting Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC), by a margin of 54-51.

The Buccaneers (11-1) will now prepare for their outing against South Brunswick (Southport, NC). The Cougars go into the 3A/4A Mideastern outing with a 3-9 record. In their last outing, South Brunswick was tipped by North Brunswick (Leland, NC), 80-44, in a league outing.

The Vikings now own a 8-5 record. They play next when they host Topsail for a 3A/4A Mideastern outing on Tuesday, January 9. Hoggard will clash with a Pirates squad coming off a 64-47 league loss to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 3-9.
