Arkansas High School Basketball - Newport nips Walnut Ridge
January 12, 2024: Newport, AR 72112 Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Walnut Ridge Bobcats (Walnut Ridge, AR), 78-73 in a league bout.
With the win, Newport upgrades its record to 3-14 on the season. The Greyhounds travel to Hoxie (Hoxie, AR) to play the Mustangs in a 3A Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 5-8. Hoxie lost 72-62 in their recent league bout against Salem (Salem, AR)
Next up, the Bobcats play the Salem Greyhounds (Salem, AR) in a 3A Region 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Walnut Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record.
