The Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) basketball nipped the host Southern Lee Cavaliers (Sanford, NC), 31-28 in Friday's league test.

The Vikings (5-9) will now prepare for their test against Pinecrest (Southern Pines, NC). The Patriots go into the 3A/4A Conference 24 test with a 6-4 record. In their last test, Pinecrest got by Hoke County (Raeford, NC), 60-36, in a league test.

The Cavaliers now own a 4-9 record. They play next when they travel to Red Springs for a non-league test on Saturday, January 14. Southern Lee will encounter a Red Devils squad coming off a 61-49 league win over West Bladen (Bladenboro, NC). The Red Devils record now stands at 8-7.
