January 9, 2024: Avery, TX 75554 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Saltillo Lions (Saltillo, TX) and the host Avery Bulldogs (Avery, TX), saw Saltillo's basketball squad hold off Avery by a count of 44-42.
With the victory, Saltillo upgrades its record to 12-14 on the campaign. The Lions host Avinger (Avinger, TX) to play the Indians in a 1A Region III District 24 challenge on Friday, January 12. The Indians come into the challenge with a record of 0-13. Avinger lost 64-33 in their recent league challenge against Sulphur Bluff (Sulphur Bluff, TX)
Next up, the Bulldogs play the Bloomburg Wildcats (Bloomburg, TX) in a 1A Region III District 24 challenge, on Friday, January 12. Avery will attempt to upgrade on its 12-13 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 1-11 record after their 68-31 non-league loss to Marshall Christian Academy (Marshall, TX).
