October 19, 2023: New Kent, VA 23124 The New Kent Trojans (New Kent, VA) volleyball were winner over the visiting Poquoson Islanders (Poquoson, VA), 3-1 in Thursday's league outing.
With the win, New Kent betters its record to 11-10 on the year. The Trojans travel to Smithfield (Smithfield, VA) to face the Packers in a Bay Rivers outing on Tuesday, October 24. The Lady Trojans avenged another early season loss with their 3-1 win over the Islanders of Poquoson. The first two sets went to "overtime" with NK winning the first 26-24, while PHS won the second 25-27. However, NK took control in sets 3 & 4, winning both by 11-point margins, 25-14. Fallon Greenawalt led the team on offense with 14 attack kills and 2 aces. Leah Rounds contributed 8 kills and 3 blocks, while Kendall White, Courtney Carter, and Ava Nieto contributed 4 kills each. Mackenzie Loveland directed the offense recording 29 assists and added 4 aces and 4 digs. Abby McLaughlin led the defensive effort with 30 digs assisted by Taylor Eubank with 12 digs and Chloe Phillips and Courtney Carter with 9 digs each.
