Fans at Thursday's league contest between the Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) and the visiting Porter Ridge Pirates (Indian Trail, NC), observed Sun Valley's volleyball team top Porter Ridge by a count of 3-0.

The Spartans (18-12) will now prepare for their contest against Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars go into the non-league battle with a 6-17 record. In their last battle, Charlotte Catholic was defeated by Piedmont (Monroe, NC), 3-2, in a league battle.

The Pirates now own a 4-18 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Weddington for a non-league battle on Monday, October 13. Porter Ridge will meet a Warriors team coming off a 3-0 league win over Piedmont (Monroe, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 16-4.
