In Friday's league match, the host Nixon Mustangs basketball team scored a decisive 86-44 triumph over the Rio Grande City Rattlers.

In their next game, the Mustangs meet the Martin Tigers (Laredo, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 30 match, on Tuesday, February 14. Nixon will attempt to better on its 22-11 season record. The Tigers enter the match with a 19-13 record after their 45-43 league win over Palmview (La Joya, TX).
