North Carolina High School Basketball - Freedom can't hold off Watauga

February 12, 2025: Morganton, NC 28655

Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) boosters left the game satisfied Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the host Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 72-69 in a league match.

With the victory, Watauga upgrades its record to 16-6 on the year. The Pioneers host Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC) to face the Huskies in a 3A/4A Northwestern match on Friday, February 14. The Huskies enter the match with a record of 7-13. Ashe County lost 55-36 in their recent league match against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC)

The Patriots now sport a 16-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Alexander Central for a 3A/4A Northwestern match on Friday, February 14. Freedom will face a Cougars squad coming off a 65-34 league win over Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 11-11.
