The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) and the host Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), observed Freedom's basketball team overwhelm Alexander Central by a score of 72-44.

The Patriots (14-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Hickory (Hickory, NC). The Red Tornadoes come into the non-league challenge with a 9-3 record.

In their next game, the Cougars battle the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) in a 3A/4A Northwestern challenge, on Friday, January 31. Alexander Central will attempt to improve on its 9-9 season record. The Huskies come into the challenge with a 6-10 record after their 76-52 league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC).
