Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Veterans Memorial Patriots (San Antonio, TX) and the host Seguin Matadors (Seguin, TX), saw Veterans Memorial's basketball squad knock off Seguin by a tally of 67-56.

With the victory, Veterans Memorial improves its record to 21-3 on the campaign. The Patriots host Wagner (San Antonio, TX) to play the Thunderbirds in a 5A Region IV District 26 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Thunderbirds come into the challenge with a record of 12-9. Wagner won 63-56 in their recent league challenge against Tivy (Kerrville, TX)

Next up, the Matadors play the Canyon Cougars (New Braunfels, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 26 challenge, on Tuesday, January 10. Seguin will attempt to improve on its 14-7 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 6-18 record after their 71-64 league loss to Smithson Valley (Spring Branch, TX).
