North Carolina High School Basketball - Sun Valley nips Piedmont

January 10, 2023: Monroe, NC 28110

Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Piedmont Panthers (Monroe, NC), 54-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Sun Valley upgrades its record to 7-9 on the season. The Spartans host Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC) to play the Pirates in a 4A Conference 58 bout on Friday, January 13. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Porter Ridge lost 69-53 in their recent league bout against Weddington (Matthews, NC)

Next up, the Panthers play the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets (Marshville, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 11. Piedmont will attempt to upgrade on its 10-5 season record. The Yellow Jackets go into the bout with a 5-9 record after their 67-44 league win over Central Academy (Monroe, NC).
