North Carolina High School Basketball - Monroe can't hold off Sun Valley

January 7, 2023: Monroe, NC 28112

The Sun Valley Spartans basketball team scored 54 points and held the host Monroe Redhawks to 50 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Spartans now sport a 6-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Piedmont for a 4A Conference 58 contest on Tuesday, January 10. Sun Valley will battle a Panthers team coming off a 43-41 league loss to Weddington (Matthews, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 10-4.

The Redhawks (3-5) will now prepare for their contest against Anson (Wadesboro, NC). The Bearcats enter the 2A/3A Conference 44 contest with a 7-6 record. In their last contest, Anson nudged Central Academy (Monroe, NC), 61-56, in a league contest.
