Virginia High School Volleyball - Jamestown can't get by New Kent
October 10, 2024: Williamsburg, VA 23185 New Kent Trojans (New Kent, VA) boosters left the game satisfied Thursday as they saw their volleyball squad edge the host Jamestown Eagles (Williamsburg, VA), 3-2 in a league test.
With the win, New Kent improves its record to 16-2 on the season. The Trojans host York (Yorktown, VA) to face the Falcons in a Bay Rivers test on Tuesday, October 15. The Falcons go into the test with a record of 6-8. York won 3-2 in their recent league test against Poquoson (Poquoson, VA)
The Eagles now own a 10-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bruton for a Bay Rivers test on Tuesday, October 15. Jamestown will face a Panthers squad coming off a 3-1 league win over Tabb (Yorktown, VA). The Panthers record now stands at 15-4.
Match Summary
NK defeated Jamestown in one of the most exciting matches in the history of the program. After losing the first two sets 14-25 and 22-25 in the best-of-five match, the Lady Trojans rallied in set three to hit 14 Ks with only 1 error for a .406 hitting efficiency to take the set 25-13. NK continued to dominate in sets 4 & 5, winning them with scores of 25-16 & 15-7 respectively. Highlights for the match include Carly Sachs' 14 Ks, 7 aces, 18 receptions, 6 digs, and 2 blocks. Ava Neito and Leah Rounds contributed 10 Ks each, while Fallon Greenawalt and Kendall White added 7 Ks and 6 Ks respectively. Mackenzie Loveland directed the offense with a season-high 41 assists. Abby McLaughlin led the defense
with a season-high 29 digs, with Loveland adding 14 digs and 10 from Greenawalt. McLaughlin, Sachs, and Greenawalt lead the passing game with 29, 18, and 16 passes respectively.
