September 26, 2024: New Kent, VA 23124 The New Kent Trojans volleyball team scored 3 points and restricted the visiting Lafayette Rams to 0 in the Trojans league triumph on Thursday.
The Trojans now possess a 13-1 record. They play next when they travel to Grafton for a Bay Rivers outing on Tuesday, October 1. New Kent will play a Clippers team coming off a 3-2 league win over Poquoson (Poquoson, VA). The Clippers record now stands at 13-2.
With the loss, Lafayette drops to 2-13 on the campaign. The Rams host Bruton (Williamsburg, VA) to play the Panthers in a Bay Rivers outing on Tuesday, October 1. The Panthers come into the outing with a record of 12-3. Bruton won 3-0 in their recent league outing against Smithfield (Smithfield, VA)
Match Summary
The Lady Trojans extended their winning streak to 12 with their sweep of the Rams from Lafayette High School. However, the Rams, who entered tonight's match 2-10, have not won a Bay Rivers match since 2021, and did not let NK win easily in sets two and three, posting 20 and 22 points, respectively. The Lady Trojans played everyone in the three sets, making their first subs in set one and continuing through the match. Highlights of the match include Leah Rounds' 8 Ks with no errors on 12 attempts for a .667 hitting efficiency, Fallon Greenawalt's 6 Ks, and Ryan Griffith and Carly Sachs with 5 Ks each.
