New York High School Baseball - LaSalle Academy loses to St. Edmund Prep
April 28, 2022: New York, NY 10003 The LaSalle Academy Cardinals baseball team (New York, NY), was overwhelmed 8-0 in Thursday's league outing with the visiting St. Edmund Prep Eagles (Brooklyn, NY)
The Eagles now hold a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Sacred Heart for a Catholic A - North outing on Sunday, May 1.
Next, the Cardinals confront the Bishop Loughlin Lions (Brooklyn, NY) in a Catholic B outing, on Monday, May 2. LaSalle Academy will attempt to advance on its 3-6 season record. The Lions go into the outing with a 1-0 record after their 12-1 non-league win over Mamaroneck (Mamaroneck, NY).
Game Summary
New York, NY – In a game against the division’s (CHSAA Varsity A) top team, the La Salle Cardinals committed eight errors and lost 0-8 against the St. Edmund Prep Eagles on Randall’s Island. The loss drops the Cardinals to 2-3 in the division but was also the second loss to Edmund this year giving the Eagles any potential tie-break.
By far the worse game played by La Salle all year, they had trouble fielding, throwing, and catching pop-ups which ultimately led to starting pitcher, Izzac Garcia, picking up the loss. St. Edmund’s, Joseph Dressman, was fantastic for the Eagles with the complete game on only four hits and four strikeouts. The lone bright spot for La Salle was Damien Maldonado who went 3 for 3 with a double. It was the second time the Cardinals have been shut out this season.
