New York High School Baseball - Bishop Loughlin gets by LaSalle Academy
May 14, 2022: Brooklyn, NY 11238 Bishop Loughlin Lions (Brooklyn, NY) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting LaSalle Academy Cardinals (New York, NY), 3-1 in a league test.
With the win, Bishop Loughlin upgrades its record to 3-1 on the season. The Lions travel to Sacred Heart (Yonkers, NY) to battle the Irish in a Catholic A - North test on Thursday, May 19. New York, NY – The La Salle Cardinals dropped the second game of the double header, 1-3, for a split on the day. Down 0-1 going into the top of the fifth inning, the Cardinals were able to tie the game as Eric Marmolejos drove in Manuel Ramirez, but they gave the lead right back in the bottom of the frame and ended up on the losing side. The lost drops La Salle’s record to 5-4 (CHSAA A Division) and makes things interesting going into the last week of the season.
Eamon Moogan, pitched a complete game for the Cardinals but was the hard luck loser giving up 3 runs, 2 earned scattering 4 hits against 5 walks and 5 strikeouts. Carlos Lorenzo, Manuel Ramirez and Marmolejos had two hits apiece.
